How to Treat Genital Warts and Ways to Remove Them

When a round or rather flat growth appears near the area of the genitals and it is accompanied by redness and itchiness chances are the person is infected with genital warts.  What are genital warts?
Aside from the above mentioned symptoms, genital warts or thru its scientific name, condylomata acuminate can simultaneously grow together to form a big lump that is likened to a cauliflower in appearance.
Genital warts can appear around the vaginal opening or can even be found inside the vagina within the cervical area.  Aside from this it can also manifest itself around the anus and around the penis.
Genital warts are sexually transmitted disease meaning it can only be transferred from one person to another person thru sexual contact or sexual intercourse.  It is thus a possibility for an infected person to spread the disease to as many people as possible thru unprotected sex.
It is this ease of transmission that both medical professionals and the person infected actively seeks ways on how to treat genital warts and other means on how to remove them permanently.  Because once a person is known to be infected with this virus it comes with a stigma that can have an effect on the person’s life.
Yet, according to medical research the symptoms of genital warts does not appear immediately.  So a person cannot know if he or she is infected in just a couple of days.  In fact, the first signs of genital warts can only appear in the person after eight to 18 months after being exposed to the virus via sexual contacts.
This long gestation period can fool a person into thinking that he or she was not infected because there is no symptoms that are readily apparent.  The symptoms will only appear after several weeks or even months after the initial contact with an infected person.  Genital wart cream may not yet be evident.
However, once treatments for genital warts have been found and the physical symptoms have been removed there are also some instances that the virus still remains inside the tissue of the skin.  This is now a not so common situation where recurrence of the virus happens in a person.
Women are particularly vulnerable to genital warts infection because of the fact that some women have vaginal discharges.  These vaginal discharges which are symptom of yeast infection can cause moisture to appear around the vagina.  Moisture and genital warts are a lethal combination to contend with.
This is not the only bad news as regards genital warts.  Genital warts can also increase the chance of acquiring cervical cancer for women and penile cancer for men.  These threats to peoples’ health alone would make them search for treatments for genital warts.
How then do we assure ourselves that we do not contract this sexually transmitted disease?
The first rule especially for women is to have an annual pap smear.  This would ensure that any abnormalities can be detected early on so that the proper medication like genital warts cream or any other medications prescribed by the doctor can be started immediately.  Many doctors have said that any serious illnesses or diseases can be treated only if this has been brought to their attention early enough.
The other thing that people can do is to avoid unprotected sex.  This means that being faithful to a single partner.  Having multiple sexual partners can increase the chance of contracting this disease.  Genital warts are highly contagious.  Condoms are some of the best protection for most sexually transmitted diseases including genital warts.
Next, be sure to practice good hygiene on your body.  There are some cases where warts on the fingers can be transferred to the genital area because of wanton disregard for good hygiene and cleanliness.  This is a basic requirement to be healthy.  Washing the hands every now and then can prevent many diseases for a start.
Treatments for genital warts can take many forms.  Medical professionals and doctors would know what specific treatment would be suitable to the person.  So it is better to ask the doctor for some medical advice just to be sure.
